New cast member and a massive change for our heroine

The new character briefly introduced at the end of Kiss Him, Not Me 2 becomes a new friend in volume 3, and her presence is a welcome addition for shaking up the relationships with a bit more conflict.

Although Kae first met Shima at a comic convention where Shima was cosplaying, it turns out that they go to the same school. (Yay for manga coincidences! Which is actually called out in the book, amusingly.) Shima is amazing. Everyone wants to be her friend. Her house is like a fan museum. She has all the manga Kae wants to read. AND she’s a talented artist.

All the boys competing for Kae’s attention are jealous, while Shima seems too good to be true. I’ve seen perfect boyfriends in manga before, but this is a clever take on the perfect friend. And anyone who likes boys’ love stories — or things that make fun of them — will appreciate how the girls interact with the guys.

The main occurrence in this installment, though, is one of those ideas where it seems so perfectly obvious in retrospect, but I wouldn’t have guessed it was coming: Kae gains back the weight she lost to become cute. The guys have to then confront how they feel about her. Are they so shallow as to only want to be around her when she looks pretty (as defined by cultural stereotypes)? Will Shima show them up again by reacting in a more substantial way?

It’s a great twist with plenty of opportunities for humor yet expanding the characters along the way. Those kinds of options are my favorite parts of this series by Junko, when you get the comedy but with something more substantial underneath as well. The Things One Will Do for Love.

As revealed at the end of Kiss Him, Not Me Vol. 2, Kae's rescuer from the low angler at the doujinshi convention turned out to be a girl, Shima Nishina, cosplaying as a man, a girl who just happens to be attending the same school with her but as a lower classmate. She's also a successful (and wealthy) artist of BL manga.

She's also more than a little interested in Kae, which leaves Kae's would-be harem taken aback. Are there now FIVE rival's for her heart? To add to the difficulty, Kae picks this moment to fall off the wagon and regain all her weight. Now the boys have to face their individual moments of truth. Is Kae's beauty ALL they ever cared for? Is it wrong to want someone you care for to be beautiful (and healthy)? If not, what are you willing to do to motivate them? Though in their shock they initially give reasons for doubting their sincerity, by the end they all manage to "man up" and prove that their devotion is more than skin deep by their willingness to provide a fujoshi with the necessary motivation.

This is a series with a lot of humor and a lot of heart, and I intend to seek out the sequels: Kiss Him, Not Me! Vol. 4, Kiss Him, Not Me! Vol. 5, Kiss Him, Not Me! Vol. 6, and Kiss Him, Not Me! Vol. 7.

i had to cover my mouth to lower my laughter volume. it was just too funny! this is thee best of the series so far. i loved seeing the guys squirm like that and the poses... my mouth hurts from smiling so hard. and to see my favorite guy fall in love one more time with her and prove it by making her soooo happy in the last page. priceless!

This is a book re: Information Security that makes sense. It is not technical, as in technology to use, but more about the responsibilities of management, and how to develop your security policy

Foundational reading for information security

Running the gamut from correct employee mentality, the CIA triangle, threats, policies, classifying assets, access control, to managing your physical security, analysing and managing risk, and business continuity planning, this short volume appeals mostly to managers and small business owners who desire their business and its assets protected from intrusion on physical, electronic, and human fronts. The volume is non-technical, with broad and expansive coverage of the subject material, to allow the reader to strictly define risks and threats to any business. Like the title suggests, it prepares the reader for further reading on more complex topics, which means further reading would be advised before taking the leap and applying any of the ideas in this book (to make sure all bases are covered: the book was printed in 2005). I purchased the hard copy for a university unit, and it has claimed a rightful reference spot upon my bookshelf ever since.

Nothing new...

The book is not that bad. I had to buy for my graduate studies, but I think it's so broad and for beginners, not for someone who already studied all that. I think the only new thing I learned was about FRAAP, and that's not even a new topic. If you want a sumarized version of most aspects of information security withpout getting in very detailed explanations about different areas, it is a pretty decent book to have.

A book of lasting value

This is an excellent little book. It was quite readable and not terribly difficult to understand, yet offering some important instruction on both illness and healing from a spiritual perspective. The author provides clear understanding about the relationship between sin and illness, while steering clear of negative judgment of individuals who are sick. His discussion on healing is intelligent, deeply rooted in the spiritual without categorically rejecting medical treatment. I found particularly helpful his guidance on what to pray for with regard to illness - I won't be a spoiler and tell you the answer in this review :-).

Also, as another reviewer noted, the book includes ample quotes and footnotes. However, I could follow the meaning of the text readily without deep study of the footnotes. I found it assuring that Larchet had clearly based his work on the Church Fathers and not some passing personal notions. In addition, at a later time, I may want to go back and read some of his sources.

I find myself referencing ideas in the book in discussion with others. I loaned the book to someone else almost as soon as I finished reading it. These, for me, are signs of a spiritual book of lasting value.

excellent for health care providers and people suffering with illness

I was diagnosed with a terminal illness which could bring intense affliction with it. This book puts illness in God's perspective and helps one to turn the affliction into spiritual benefit. He quotes the early church fathers in his theological treatise. Its a practical book, not an academic one; excellent for health care providers and people suffering with illness.

This book establishes a clear understanding of the ultimate humanity of each individual who experiences the effects of physical illness. By constantly keeping its focus on the Source and Goal of our humanity it encourages the reader to be active in seeking a healing which is total and salvific. Personally, I consider it a stylistic flaw of the author to be incessantly quoting from one source after another. But if you can get past that, this is a lovely guide.

I used this for review for the Occ Med boards and found it somewhat helpful. There were a lot of typos and grammatical errors in the book; there were also some inaccuracies. The pretest book for Prev Med was more helpful than this one.

Too much trivia for effective board review

I bought this to prepare for the ABPM occupational medicine boards. It focuses too much on trivia to be helpful for board preparation. I guess it could be helpful for someone who wants to play "Occupational Medicine Jeopardy." I did fine on the boards but as I was trying to work my way through this book in preparation, I thought I didn't know anything.

About the Author
Robert J. Marzano, PhD, is the cofounder and CEO of Marzano Research Laboratory in Denver, Colorado. Throughout his forty years in the field of education, he has become a speaker, trainer, and author of more than thirty books and 150 articles on topics such as instruction, assessment, writing and implementing standards, cognition, effective leadership, and school intervention His books include: Designing & Teaching Learning Goals & Objectives, District Leadership That Works, Formative Assessment & Standards-Based Grading, On Excellence in Teaching, and The Art and Science of Teaching. His practical translations of the most current research and theory into classroom strategies are internationally known and widely practiced by both teachers and administrators. He received a bachelor s degree from Iona College in New York, a master s degree from Seattle University, and a doctorate from the University of Washington. Debra Pickering, PhD, consults with schools and districts nationally and internationally as a senior scholar for Marzano Research Laboratory. Throughout her educational career, Dr. Pickering has gained practical experience as a classroom teacher, building leader, and district administrator. For many years, she has used this experience to provide training and support to K 12 teachers and administrators as they seek to continually improve student learning. In addition to her work with schools, Dr. Pickering has coauthored (with Dr. Robert Marzano) educational books and manuals, including Dimensions of Learning, Classroom Instruction That Works, Classroom Management That Works, and Building Academic Vocabulary. With a combination of theoretical grounding and over three decades of practical experience, Dr. Pickering has worked with educators to translate theory into practice. Her work continues to focus on the study of learning and the development of resources for curriculum, instruction, and assessment to help all educators meet the needs of all students. Dr. Pickering has a master s degree in school administration and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction, with an emphasis in cognitive psychology. Tammy Heflebower, EdD, is vice president of Marzano Research Laboratory in Englewood, Colorado. She is a consultant with experience in urban, rural, and suburban districts throughout North America. Dr. Heflebower has served as a classroom teacher, building-level leader, district leader, regional professional development director, and national trainer. She has also been an adjunct professor of curriculum, instruction, and assessment courses at several universities. Dr. Heflebower began her teaching career in Kansas City, Kansas, and later moved to Nebraska, where she received the District Distinguished Teacher Award. She has worked as a national educational trainer for the National Resource and Training Center at Girls and Boys Town in Nebraska. A prominent member of numerous educational organizations, Dr. Heflebower has served as president of the Nebraska Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and president-elect for the Professional Development Organization for Nebraska Educational Service Units. She was president-elect of the Colorado Association of Education Specialists and legislative liaison for Colorado Association of School Executives. Her articles have been featured in the monthly newsletter Nebraska Council of School Administrators Today, and she is a contributor to The Teacher as Assessment Leader and The Principal as Assessment Leader. Dr. Heflebower holds a bachelor of arts from Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska, a master of arts from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and an educational administrative endorsement from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She also earned a doctor of education in educational administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Good for newbies

I read this book because engagement is the new flavor of the month in education, and I want to be familiar with the jargon. A great deal of renaming basic, well-known pedagogical principles. If you've been in the classroom for several years, this book is too long as a refresher of things you know you should be doing. Primarily written for and more appropriate for secondary. Examples of teachers applying the author's suggestions seem very stilted. Good book for those new to the classroom.

This was a second book purchased for my daughter who is in a masters program for special education/general education. This book gives great recommendations, charts, etc to follow to keep students actively engaged in instruction.

The flapper, which later became closely associated with the 'roaring' 1920s, was a personification of the upheavals of the time, embodying fears and anxieties about modernity, and instabilities of gender, class, race, and national identity. In the period immediately after the Great War, these modern women represented not only newness and hedonism, but also a frightening, uncertain future. This accessible, informative and extensively researched book will be of interest to all those interested in social, cultural or gender history.

KENNETH S. POPE is in independent practice as a licensed psychologist. He has chaired the ethics committees of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). He received the 2015 Canadian Psychological Association John C. Service Member of the Year Award.

MELBA J. T. VASQUEZ is a psychologist in independent practice in Austin, Texas. She has served on various ethics committees and task forces and served as the 2011 President of the American Psychological Association.

A thought-provoking teach-yourself course in ethics

As a retired therapist, I find much of this book applies just as well to life in general as it does to the practice of psychotherapy. Granted, it's a slow read. These authors don't tell us what to do, they don't tell us what is or is not ethical. They ask us questions--they challenge us to think. I find myself needing to stop for a while to ponder a question or two. There's a thought-provoking exercise on pp. 55-57--three pages of explanations we humans use to justify the actions we're not very comfortable with. For example, "It's not unethical as long as a managed care administrator or insurance care reviewer required or suggested it. . . . It's not unethical as long as no law was broken . . . " Seeing these justifications in print is, well, thought-provoking.
