Santiago Calatrava is dramatic both in designs and his public persona. In 2004 he captured the spotlight at the unveiling ceremont for his design for the World Trade Center Transportation Hub. On a whim Calatrava got up and sketched the building, with a giant bird stretching its wing above it, for the audience to see. This latest volume on the great architect reveals a lot about his process and the inspiration behind his work. For example, his affinity for drawing the human form and winged creatures, which inspired his entry for the Church of the Year 2000 competition in Rome, which he didn't win. Of course, there are alsohis many successes, like the Puente de la Mujer (Bridge of the Woman) in Buenos Aires and the New York Times Capsule, a time capsule on display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Wonderful book of photos and content highlighting Santiago's work

I bought this book for my daughter who is working towards an architecture degree. She was impressed with how well the book showed photos, and the content it contained. This book is truly a work of art in itself. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in exploring a top-notch architect named Santiago Calatrava.

Outdated material... Perhaps it should have been titled "Using EasyLanguage (Pre) 9.x"

While the title says 9.x, with the exception of half a page with the GlobalDictionary, I found no 9.x features like the PriceSeriesProvider, OrdersProvider, AccountsProvider, etc. that has been available beginning with 9.0 in 2011. This book was published in 2014. So I feel like the title is misleading.

Ruggeiro included "IncludeSystem" from his original book written for TS2000i.
TradeStation instructed users not to use "IncludeSystem" in 2004, so it's at least 11 years out of date.

His Excel DLL links are from 2007 and 2008 posts. Beginning with 9.x, TradeStation has a built-in Excel class and a DLL is no longer needed.

As far as the older (pre-OOEL) EasyLanguage however, the book has some good examples.

I recognize a couple of the 5-star reviews as other EasyLanguage book authors trading 5-star reviews.

For a paperback book selling for over $50 it should be better. If the price was under $20 then it ...

Several errors in this book mostly as it applies to missing code...which is rather important. For example, the complete code for the 2% Reversal System should be in "Sidebar 4:5", yet there is no Sidebar 4:5. I have yet to find the authors corrections posted online, which is usually common practice.

You should expect to have some programming experience and overlook many typos and grammatical errors. There are no explanations for programming basics. The book jumps directly into coding without conceptual definitions. The book is OK, especially since there is little to no competition, just expect these things. For a paperback book selling for over $50 it should be better. If the price was under $20 then it would be easier to overlook.

The book seems to be well written but there is an accompanying CD-Rom of DVD that should have been included with the book.

The book seems to be well written but there is an accompanying CD-Rom of DVD that should have been included with the book. So far I cannot locate the disk. Since I have MultiCharts I cannot duplicate the examples the way they are presented in the book. I understand that the MC compiler in PowerLanguage can accept and compile the EasyLanguage code. It is not much help the way it is now.

Beautiful and well-made Tarot deck!

First off, this deck is a HUGE bargain. You get both a unique, gorgeous set of cards, and a well-bound guide book for just $24. It's the perfect deck for animal lovers and/or beginners who want something different than the usual Tarot deck!

The cards are matte, vibrant, and made of a sturdy cardstock material. The illustrations themselves are amazing and the artist definitely knows how to use colors in a minimalistic yet rich, dynamic way. Also, the deck & guide containers are sturdy too.

I've added pictures of all of my favorite cards from the deck (they look better in real life, trust me).

Beautiful set, thin cards.

I would give this set 5 stars on art, packaging, and content, but 2 on the quality of the cards. They're so flimsy I'm afraid to shuffle them even once. I really don't understand why they did that because the Box and the book and the small box that the cards actually set in are top notch in quality and durability. I really don't get why they would use such a thin cardstock. That being said, don't let that deter you from buying the set. Everything else is way beyond expectations. It's really nice.

Of course amazing

The wild unknown has been my favorite deck for years even though I do own two copy's of the first and second printing I knew I had to get this one too. I think they did a amazing job. The hard box that holds the book is just perfect and thank for for still having the hard box for the cards. This is amazing packaging and of course I love the deck. The cards are a little thinner but I kinda knew that might happen. They are not horrible at all though and they shuffle better than her own printed decks do so that part is great. Even better. I love all of her work and I buy anything Kim puts out. Thank you so much I love them.

Excellent Tutorial and Reference

I find this book to be a very good introduction to Inkscape. The tutorials are well chosen and serve to illustrate a wide range of the functionality available. Bah clearly knows his subject. He introduces some clever techniques that probably would not occur to the typical user (like myself).

I have the Kindle version of the book. By having the book on Kindle for the PC I was able to see color versions of the photos. What really worked well was being able to have the tutorials open side by side with Inkscape on the screen. This allowed me to easilly read the tutorial while I worked.

The book is well organized and seems to provide a level of detail that will enable most users to master the program. There were a couple of spots where I would have liked to see a bit more detail, but all in all I thought the book was very good.

Needs improvement

A good reference, but the online version is actually more usable. The examples cannot be followed, practically-speaking, without resorting to the online version. (Note: I am using the Kindle version of the book, not the printed version which may be different). It would be even better if the thing were converted to a pay video series so a person can actually see what is being done, as there are far too many buzzwords for the average person to follow it.
Inkscape itself is a pretty good program. I did have it go completely haywire as I was finishing up a project, and lost all my work, so it's not without bugs. (In this case, the ruler at the top and sides went to very large numbers with scientific notation (!), and the work was all gone - no page section was present anymore. :(
But it's free, so what do you expect?

Older edition than printed copy

Book is OK, software is great option to the other well know product. Inkscape is great for university assignments, where you need to make something stand out as different. Two main disappointments with kindle version though:
1) Kindle version one edition behind the printed copy, doesn't have all the new features
2) as others stated, does not give full instructions on how to do task (assumes you are reading from front to back and recall what you learnt in earlier tasks). Annoying if you search for a topic, continually have to go backwards to find all the instructions.
Overall, OK for getting up to speed but needs updating.

About the Author
John Salvia is Professor Emeritus of Special Education at the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Salvia is also the author of individual tests and numerous articles on the assessment of students with disabilities. His research focused on using assessment information to plan and evaluate educational programs and the impact of regular education reforms on assessment practices with exceptional students. Dr. Salvia remains interested in the extent to which students receive appropriate educational assessments.

James E. Ysseldyke has been educating school psychologists and researchers for more than 35 years, and is now Professor Emeritus in the School Psychology Program at the University of Minnesota. He has advised and mentored more than 100 doctoral and Ed.S. students who have gone on to leadership positions in universities, school systems, government agencies, and research organizations. He has served the University of Minnesota as director of the Minnesota Institute for Research on Learning Disabilities, director of the National School Psychology Network, director of the National Center on Educational Outcomes, and associate dean for research. Dr. Ysseldyke's research and writing have focused on enhancing the competence of individual students and enhancing the capacity of systems to meet students' needs. He is an author of major textbooks and more than 300 journal articles. Dr. Ysseldyke has received awards for his research from the School Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association, the American Educational Research Association, and the Council for Exceptional Children. The University of Minnesota presented him a distinguished teaching award, and he received a distinguished alumni award from the University of Illinois.

Sara Witmer (formerly Sara Bolt) is Associate Professor of School Psychology at Michigan State University. She teaches courses in psychological assessment and intervention to school psychology graduate students. Her research focuses on examining assessment tools that can enhance instructional decision-making for students who are at risk for poor academic outcomes. Dr. Witmer also conducts research on accommodations for diverse learners, students with disabilities, and English language learners, and more generally on methods for the effective inclusion of all students in large-scale assessment and accountability programs.
