About the Author
The author was born and raised in New Orleans, where she continues to live today with her daughter and husband. She attibutes her love of Carnival season to her parents. From riding on a float, marching with the De La Salle Cavalettes or being a participant in the crowd, Mrs. Spedale has participated in every aspect of Mardi Gras. But most of all, Mardi Gras day has always been a family affair! Now, she is passing this unique cultural experience on to her daughter, Ruby Rose. This story is based on acutal events that occurred over several months following Mardi Gras 2009. As Ruby Rose noticed the beads dangling from trees that line St. Charles Ave and Veterans Blvd, the author recalled fond memories of past seasons. The beads have always been on the trees for several months after parade season, but it was through the eyes of a child that made them come to life. It is the hope of this author that those who read the book will appreciate the memories created when family and friends spend time together at a parade.

A cute Mardi Gras book for young kids. Definitely something a New Orleans native can appreciate! Would love to see it in a board book format.

Perfect parade day fun

Fabulous! This book was great entertainment for kids especially while in the car and downtime between parades. While my husband and I looked for a place to park, the kids looked for beads on trees. PERFECT!!
