A Powerful Dialogue

In the guise of a simple book — rendered as a dialogue between the author's older and younger selves — Dr. Needleman continues an exploration begun in two of his earlier books, "An Unknown World: Notes on the Meaning of the Earth" and "What Is God?"

As with the earlier books, Dr. Needleman interweaves snippets of memoir with potent questions and profound insights about what it means to be a human being and our place in the universe. And, he continues to offer us opportunities to engage with the book on multiple levels — an interesting memoir, an invitation to dialogue with ourselves, a guidebook for awakening to and allowing a higher consciousness into our life.

Yet, there is something different in this book. Something subtle, yet powerful. Dr. Needleman uses the dialogue with his younger selves to directly show us how to shift our thoughts from head to heart and reconnect with our own I-ness. If we choose to be present. If we listen and look deeply.

Dr. Needleman has provided us with a valuable gift, in the form of a simple little book. I highly recommend it.

A Daring Book That Renders the Incomprehensible Somewhat Comprenhesible.

Jacob has an uncanny ability to make the mystery of being comprehensible--to make sense of "no things" that are virtually impossible to describe through ordinary language.

He has previously explored the notion of defeating time by communicating with one's younger self but in this short play he dramatizes it in ways that I found evocative of deep feeling and profundity.

How to present "transcendent" material? Jacob's readers will know the source of much of what is brought here but it is presented with Jacob's unique daring and exquisite ability with language.

I particularly found the conclusion in which he wraps things up particularly helpful.in pointing beyond the intellectual mind to those realms that are almost impossible to describe in words.

As I was reading I had an inner sense of what Ouspensky may have meant by recurrence and perhaps even what Gurdjieff was attempting to suggest to his students.

I highly recommend this wonderful work

I bought this as a textbook for a college class, and I have to say this was one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read. Having lived all my life in the South this book held many explanations to things I had always taken for granted. If you are interested in Southern culture and some of its history, I highly recommend this wonderful work.

Being from the North, I never learned one thing about the South in school. What a disservice. I have now been educated. This fascinating book is so enlightening. It is extremely informative; not dry at all. Feels like your favorite uncle is sitting down by the fire and telling you a story. The amount of research and thought that went into this book is evident. It deserves 10 stars.

How Good Can You Stand It?

I had everything I could want — really. Everything except CASH. An advance copy of 'Manifesting Prosperity From the Inside Out' helped me clear my vision of myself, re-frame my limiting beliefs, and address my issues around money. Immediately — I mean within three weeks! — my income tripled. Yes, the IRS noticed. Now, three years into this little experiment, my financial abundance is still increasing with no sign of abating. I continue to perform the simple exercises outlined in this little treasure chest of a book, and life just keeps getting better!

There is so much to love about this book - where to begin! With heart, sincerity, and wisdom, Tammi shares inspiring information about the energy of prosperity in your life that is relate-able and practical. She provides exercises to help you connect with your prosperity mindset so you can know yourself better - especially your hidden self! - and then she gently guides you to a higher understanding and perspective. The section on Creativity and Prosperity is especially wonderful - bring on the mandalas, baby! As I was reading, I kept thinking how this would make a great gift for girlfriends, clients, colleagues, and soul sisters. Get ready to bend a lot of corners on this paperback!

great first book on H2O machine learning open source framework.

This seems to be the very first book on this ML framework (H2O). And is is just great.
The book is crystal clear and extremely comprehensive, very easy to read, with examples you can reproduce easily (datasets are on line in a public Git repo).
It covers a very practical ground on the 4 main algorithms implemented in H2O cluster: RandomForest, GBM, GLM, and last but not least : deep learning...
"Practical" means explanations are strongly grounded on a set of 4 datasets , the author plays with, explaining both their preparation , analysis with H2O (code is both in R and PYTHON), and a great deal of time is spent on very useful considerations on how to 'tune' the various algorithms
to obtain better models, comparing their effectiveness.

All this in very clear style and explanations.

A must have for everyone interested in implementing ML features concretely.

This book is an ample introduction of H2O for R and Python practitioners. Those interested in state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning approaches will enjoy this book completely, whether they are beginners or proficient R and Python users for statistical analysis. The author makes clear descriptions and his explanations are always accessible. His high-quality sense of humour interspersed throughout the text helps maintain the interest in the text as one reads. I would love to read more of this author.

If you are or want to be a writer, buy this book now

Okay, here's the deal. If you buy a single book on writing, and have some hopes for commercial success (whatever that may mean to you), make it this one. It is, by a very large margin, the most practical, engaging, and genuinely helpful advice I have ever seen on what it takes to write something other people want to read, all gathered into one neat package. I have one book out and I've completed a few other manuscripts, one of which I've been struggling with big-time. Spending the last several hours with Beth's book has crystallized my plot and character elements, showed me the holes I didn't even realize were there, and helped me separate the wheat from the chaff: in her words, to find the beating heart of the story. I think it's useful for anyone in any stage of their career, published or not. If you want razor sharp advice served up with a sense of humor, look no further. I've been writing pages of notes and expect to go back to this one again and again. She has two more coming up, on publishing and marketing, I will definitely pick those up.

Great, practical writing advice

This was a very solid and well-organized book which tackles so many aspects of writing and trying to break into publishing. Beth Revis is empathetic through her entire run, regularly reminding readers that no single piece of writing advice applies universally to everyone. Much of this book is tackled from a "this is what has worked for me" point of view, not a "listen to me, I am totally right" perspective.

Revis covers a bit of everything - characters, plot, setting, revising, grammar, critique partners, querying, rejections. Each chapter is only about two or three pages long, but they all bring something important to the table. I really enjoyed the charts she included for different ways of mapping out a story.

Since Revis is a YA writer herself, most of her examples and advice slant towards that, but she talks a little bit about other age categories. Still, I feel other YA writers would benefit the most from this writing advice book.

Before reading this, I felt like I knew pretty much everything there is to know about the art of writing, but Revis showed me I can always learn more. She twists things I had already internalized and puts a fresh spin on them that makes me aware of how I can be better.

This book is amazing!

I like the way she presents everything

I adore Beth Revis' writing. Her fiction is entertaining as heck, and so is this. While not all of her methods work for me in my writing, I like the way she presents everything: simple, straightforward, no-nonsense. It's easy to read, easy to understand, and does a wonderful job explaining that it's okay if some advice just doesn't work for you. I also very much enjoyed the commentary on diversity and feminism--that alone would make me recommend this book to my writer friends. Overall, a wonderful book, and one I highly recommend, especially to anyone wanting to write YA. That being said, it's not just for YA writers, so if you're looking for good advice, consider checking this one out.
